Dry Needling 101

The goal of dry needling is to settle down or deactivate the trigger point causing lower back pain and subsequently the referred pain. Everyone has trigger points. They only cause symptoms, however, when they wake up and are active. The trained physical therapists at Gina V. Physical Therapy will inject a very thin needle into a trigger point in hopes of deactivating the trigger point. What our patients often experience are an increase in range of motion and a decrease in pain. Scientists believe the dry needling stimulates blood flow to the trigger point which eases muscle contraction and yes…..reduces your pain!

How Do I Prepare For a Dry Needling Session

Nothing. That’s right. You don’t need to do anything to prepare for your dry needling appointment with Gina V. Patients often experience immediate relief from symptoms. Depending on the patient’s individual situation, Gina V. may recommend additional sessions. You don’t have to live with lower back pain or the referred pain being felt in other areas. Likely you’ve suffered enough already and are missing out on living your normal life and participating in your day-to-day activities.

If your experience lower back pain and live in the Papillion, Nebraska area, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with Gina V. Physical Therapy in Papillion as quickly as possible.
